Achievements/Trophies dictate how much time I will put into a game. I won’t even bother with a game that has needlessly hard or painfully easy achievements.

Have fun bothering to buy DeathSmiles regardless of the rest of the game, which has an achievement that requires:

• defeating Bloody Jitterbug in Mega Black Label — credit feeding is OK.
• …who in turn requires a no-damage run up to defeating Tyrannosatan, the standard last boss.
• …on Level 999 for every stage.
• …while going through both extra stages.
• …without going into options and touching any of the game settings.

I play games for the games themselves. Achievements and the points that come from them are but secondary to me. I’ve had my XBL account for 3 years, have only four-digit gamerscore, and really don’t care that I have friends who have at least 20,000 G.

I’d rather have a great game with shitty achievements than a terrible game with well-thought-out achievements.
